About Reetu

Reetu Jain, a Rajasthani American, has trained and performed nationally and internationally for over 27 years. Her repertoire includes Indian classical (Bharat Natyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Odissi), Bollywood, Indian Folk and Gypsy (Garba/Raas, Bhangra, Rajasthani, South Indian), East African, American Tribal Style Bellydance, Flamenco basics and fusion dance methods.

After 12 years of Indian classical dance training at the Anjali Center for the Performing Arts and 15 years of Indian folk dance and Bollywood training, Reetu continued to enrich her dance skills in tribal bellydance as a founding member of Urban Gypsy. She has incorporated an array of styles into her choreographies for unique performances such as at Dance Houston 2005 and Dance from the Heart. She traveled and performed with the Music Masala international cruises to Alaska, the Bahamas, and Mexico. In the spring of 2007, Reetu trained in Ugandan traditional dance at the Ndere Centre in the capital of Kampala; in the spring of 2008, Reetu trained in Odissi and Rajasthani gypsy dance in Pushkar, Rajasthan.

Throughout her career, Reetu has instructed various local and international students in group and private classes, including Indian dance training at the Spanish Institute of Dance and recently at workshops in Mumbai, India and Beijing, China. Reetu regularly collaborates and performs with artists such as the Rajamani Ensemble. As Executive Director of her dance nonprofit Pangea Beat, she strives to increase self and cultural awareness through dance and create oneness in the world.
